Welsh Water

Over 4 days in June 2024, I cycled the Traws Eryri (Trans-Snowdonia) – a mountain biking route through the heart of Snowdonia or Eryri to use its native and less pronounceable name. This was a tough ride made tougher by a frequent mix of moderate to light rain, near-continuous low cloud, temperatures in the low teens and a level of fitness consistent with not being entirely young anymore.

But once underway and past the largely mental barrier of getting wet, splattered with Welsh grit, glimpses of this rugged landscape through a watery lens steadily began to appeal. Sometimes a view is about everything that can’t be seen as much as everything that can. (The Welsh tourist board can use that line if they wish, Scottish, English and Irish too ;-))
